Artist Statement
Creative media such as painting, photography, sculpture, and installation is important for me. When I create artwork, I pay attention to the materials used and the concepts behind the artwork; thinking about their connection. When I create my painting, I focus on the coordination of colour, tone and composition. In my photographic works I focus on black, white and grey tones to bring out the expression of emotion. My sculpture artworks explore the limits of different materials such as aluminum foil.
Work in progress
I've been inspired by Jackson Pollock body movement, when I drawing with a charcoal pen, the flow in the drawing brought out by the movements of the body can enrich the emotion and make the expression more powerful. With hand strength and use of different paper, the charcoal pen will also produce different effects such as depiction. Drawing can create different effects, possibilities and express emotional expression in a quicker way that why I like such a creative approach.
The process of drawing is the most effective way to quickly express emotions; the communication of drawing being more direct, which can quickly leave traces on the picture. It is not only the use of materials to create, but also with the body movements, the use of different strength to express emotions. In addition, I have worked with an eraser to erase parts of the drawing. In this way, the drawing will not be too monotonous.
These ways of working demonstrate a limited range of emotional expressions. If I want to find a new way of drawing, this way of the drawing may become too easy for me over time as I become increasingly familiar with it. The results of creation would be very similar. Therefore I wish to develop my visual language and consider my individual creative autonomy. In thinking about letting go and loosing control over the creative process; I am considering if there are parts that can given over to the influence of the environment; can the energy of the emotion be presented from another approach?
